What is Twitter?

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
That's what someone asked me this week when I suggested she get on Twitter and talk about her non-profit and connect to like-minded people.  Twitter is a social networking venue and it's fairly straight-forward.  Smart businesses need to pay attention to all the social networking sites because they're going to be their life-blood in the future.  I can believe how many hyphenated words I blogged in this post!  Sheesh.

Here's a short video about social networking.

Howdy from HOT Colorado! Dang...100+ degrees today and forecast for the next few days is the same. We're going on 22 days of over ninety degrees! Whew! This menopausal woman is melting! Have to do work in the morning and late evening so my brain can function. Cool equals free thinking brain. HOT equals fried brain! :=)

Record number of boomer women are opening internet store fronts so they can supplement their income while they're working in corporate America, and then when they retire, and have time on their hands and BIG intelligence reserves that need to be shared with others. The store fronts showcase the wisdom that women over fifty have to offer because of their experience, skills, abilities and creativity that has been developed during their working years.

We see the first 40 years as a prelude to where our talent takes us after 50. Human Resource managers become coaches for young women starting out in the business world; creative artists find painting and writing alchemized into successful children's literature that is inclusive, peaceful and empowering; writers become teachers and mentors to new writers giving them a step-up so that their peaceful expression can be read around the world; beaders become jewelry stores; knitters teach and sell hand-made yarn in every color of the rainbow; quilters tell our woman's story with every loving piece put together and sewn by women's hands; survivors become mentors to those caught in the throes of abusive circumstances and light their way out of the darkness...the list of new businesses for women over 50 is as long as there are boomer women in the world. That's a long, beautiful list!

Our store fronts have meaning and depth and serve a higher purpose than just making money for money's sake. We are children of the 60's and we want to give back to the world. We are so full of love and light and healing that we NEED to pull the world, it's children and it's mother earth away from the perilous speeding train of destruction we have created. Women over fifty will do this because we have the time and the intent and the wisdom to create a different world. It's not rocket science to see that if we continue on the path we are taking, we will destroy ourselves and our planet. It won't take rocket scientists to create a new world.

Our store fronts are filled with beauty, creativity, health, wholeness and hope for the future. Because we are women who are - wise, wild, wonderful and willing to do the work to change the world. Through our businesses and through our creative wisdom. Give me a shout out if you are on your way and have started your wisewomen store front. Share your gifts!
